Porthos Du Vallon and Tom Eaves won the 4:25 Class 5 handicap at Ayr yesterday, which is a super result considering they started as the third favourite equipe. Beating the firm favourite by half a length to give me my third UK win in seven weeks, this is supposed to be his last run on the flat, and he'll now begin a second life career as a jumper.
Meanwhile, we can look forward to River Spirit running on in the Class 3 Sky Bet Nursery Handicap at York on the 26th, or the Class 5 Knauf Handicap Stakes at Carlisle on the following day. Both races are over five furlongs, which seems to suit this filly just fine as long as the ground is fast. She's been unlucky not to win in her last couple of outings, so let's hope she gets a kinder rub of the green over the weekend.
