Apart from the unexpected and truly excellent performance from Perfumer the other day, we've had a pretty naff run on the racing side, with hot favourites and other well-fancied nags failing to do the business. Hopefully, Yoshihara-kun can make Pop Label fly on Wednesday evening, when he competes in the 12R - this will be my first Funabashi nighter appearance, but Pop ran in night races for most of his early career. This fact, and the hot weather drying the track, may work in our favour. While the field is a strong one, could this be win number 30 coming up? Fingers crossed.
On Saturday, Blacklister will probably run in the 6:00 at Lingfield in the UK in a seven-furlong auction stakes race, then things get busy on Sunday, with Irish Harp and Massabielle booked for outings in Japan, and Raining Dollars and Pretty Gully both setting out for 1200m races at Charters Towers in Australia. Some strong horses on three continents to look out for.

Meanwhile, I went to watch the kids training with 'Bugatti' for the first time in a long while on Sunday, and was very pleased with what I saw. He is starting to calm down again with the hotter weather, and Relax Me supplements are no longer necessary to take the edge off his high-tension moments - not that the stuff seemed to work anyway on most days, as he was still a mad thing if ever there was a cool breeze in the air! But at least I saw some really good work and a strong bond building up - a wild card entry in the All-Japan Championships to give the big fella some experience before a proper 2016 campaign might surprise a few people...
