Wednesday's Remarks

Just going over a few trainer JRA reports in the frozen wastes of Chiba and finding very little worth relaying, which is hardly unusual. The typical Tenshinramman dream words (we all want to see her win again, but it's not going to happen with her current team), a lightweight programme for Infinity Love when it needs a deadly serious one if it has another chance of succeeding, a series of holiday postcards, and the only signs of sense coming from Ogata-san and Ogasa-san.

Rush Attack is back at the racing stable, which should bring forth a race in the next few weeks, but the Perfumer situation (sounds like a political scandal!) is not improving at all browsing at the reports. After being out of action since the middle of last year, by the look of the times being posted, it would have been better to retire the beast after his last, victorious run. In reality, 'Bugatti' hasn't raced for well over a year now, but he would still win with ease in a match race against Perfumer, and that I can guarantee, as he still has magnificent muscle tone and there's certainly no shortage of fire in his belly. Even for an NAR campaign, which sounds infinitely more sensible than a JRA one, he'll have to improve a lot to make it worthwhile.

On the subject of NAR, Chocolat Sucre and Million Ways should be joining Phosphorus at the next Funabashi meeting in the middle of the month; Magic Key will not be there, as you will have gathered if you've read my last few entries! Belle Plage should be out before then in JRA action if the entry is approved (we'll know more on Thursday), while Raining Dollars has a trial run Down Under on Friday. Before all that, though, we have the grey making her jumps debut in Ireland. Fingers crossed...

PS. A Touch Of Sparkle was fifth, a very long way off the pace of the pair that battled for victory, but close enough to the third-placed nag - ironically, also trained by 'our' guy, with the jockey that took Danielle's Journey out last time aboard.

Well, at least a safe run was accomplished, giving us something to build on. Indeed, she gave a good account of herself, as you can see on http://www.attheraces.com/VOD/921618. And news just in, Raining Dollars won his trial with ease, while Belle Plage has been confirmed for the highly-competitive Tokyo 12R on Sunday, albeit drawing a poxy gate as usual (15 of 16).
