THUMBS UP FOR LNH
Lourdes No Hitomi performed admirably today, coming fifth, just 0.4 seconds down on the winner, and with the second fastest 3F time. According to the jockey, Miura Kosei, Lourdes-chan felt like a real racehorse for the first time today, meaning she now understands what her job is! What's more, Kosei-san feels the distance is right for her - 2100m on dirt. The future is starting to look bright for this beauty...

PS. Having studied the video, I can safely say I'm looking forward to Lourdes-chan's next race, as she looked remarkably strong. The trainer has recently said she's in even better condition now, and with the racing spirit finally ignited, she could be one to watch out for in the win-place-show frame.

POP LABEL LATEST
The Sunday TC newcomer is making fine progress, having passed one gate test. If all goes well in the second, he can go for his racing ability test on the 14th, and hopefully be on the tracks soon after for a fast NAR debut. Meanwhile, today sees Lourdes No Hitomi in JRA action at the Tokyo-Fuchu track...

RACING ROUND-UP
On the Carrot Club front, True Motion passed her gate test at the first attempt, and after a short rest, will resume training with a view to making an early debut. Lourdes No Hitomi has been confirmed to race with Miura Kosei on the 4th of May at Tokyo (3R), and Mistoffelees will run on the 11th with Genki Maruyama at Niigata in the card's 4R - a 1600m turf race.

Of the Shadai Group newcomers, the colt called Phosphorus is now 514kg and on a programme to enhance power still further, while Beat The Boarder is at the other end of the scale, and still tiny, even for a filly. However, she's training hard.

The picture shows Divine Daughter, who was this year's selection for JRA honours from the Sunday TC catalogue. Still occasional snow up in Hokkaido, so the blankets might still get some use even though we're now into May!

CARROT ROUND-UP
Harmony Fair and Miracle Rouge will be heading back to Miho TC really soon, which means they are rested and will return to the tracks in the near future. As it happens, Belle Plage, one of the newcomers, should be despatched there soon, as she is showing signs of an early debut being possible.

Sophisticate looks great, but still has a lot of maturing to do mentally, and Mephisto Waltz is in a similar position. Both of these colts look absolutely superb! Meanwhile, Classic Curl could carry the torch for Air Groove, who died recently, as the bloodlines are very close. And of the NAR runners, Agua De Vida has been assigned an advanced training programme, and looks almost ready to go.

SUCCESS ALL-ROUND
Louis won gold in the Japan Cup whilst making his show-jumping debut, while Sophie claimed third place in the gymkhana, and probably shocked a few people in the process. Louis was using 'Heart' for this event, and the pair look like a good match for going on to greater things. Sophie got 'Jaguar' to wake up, and guided him flawlessly around the course, doubtless surprising the adults she was up against - a 10-year old girl atop a huge, immensely powerful and somewhat onry Thoroughbred must have seemed like a joke in the warm-up area. Well done to the two of them, and both of the horses, too, of course...

SUNNY SUNDAY
Mosto Verde started the race as fourth favourite, but came seventh in the end. Ultimately, his first outing was a furlong shorter on turf, and with an outside gate draw, he was struggling at the end after a strong run in the early stages. The jockey said he felt speed, and as the body matures, he will definitely improve. Even compared to his first race, the difference was visible. The future will certainly be interesting.

As for Louis, a fourth today, with the same guy winning again. I've since found out he's an instructor, so officially his score shouldn't count! But anyway, the key thing is - despite a sleepy 'Jaguar' - the boy kept his scores close to those of yesterday, clocking up 55.294%, when most of
the other entrants dropped a little. Tomorrow, a gymkhana for Sophie
and show-jumping for Louis...
